Paul Gascoigne to Receive Replacement Steaks … From PETA

Group Sends Succulent Vegan Meat to Help Footballer After Home Robbery

London – Following reports that Paul Gascoigne has been left “heartbroken” after a robbery in which two fillet steaks, among other items, were stolen from his home, PETA has sent the former footballer well-wishes in the form of a gift of vegan Mheat Steaks by Sgaia’s Vegan Meats.

“Vegan steaks won’t mend a broken heart, but eating plant-based meals rather than meaty ones can help Gazza reduce his risk of suffering from heart disease and other chronic conditions,” says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “We’re eager to help him restock his freezer with vegan food that’s delicious, healthy, and kind to animals.”

PETA notes that most people who stop eating meat do so not because they don’t like the taste but rather to benefit their health or the environment or because they don’t want animals to be slaughtered for their pleasure. Vegan meats make it easy for people to enjoy the foods they love without the killing.

The group also highlights that researchers with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine have found strong evidence that plant-based eating can reduce a person’s risk of dying from cardiovascular disease by 40% and their risk of developing coronary heart disease by 40%. Additionally, each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals a year daily suffering and a terrifying death in today’s meat, egg, and dairy industries, in which piglets’ tails are docked without painkillers, chickens’ throats are cut while they’re still conscious, and mother cows are separated from their beloved babies shortly after birth.

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.uk.
