PETA Offers Gbp 1,000 To Help Nab Portland Cat Decapitators

Portland, Dorset – PETA is offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who cut off and removed the head of a tabby cat named Harry in Portland. The despicable act is believed to have taken place in the evening of Monday, 5 March. Police claim that a sharp implement may have been used to sever the head, which was then removed from the scene, on St Martin’s Road in Underhill.

PETA is urging residents to keep a watchful eye on their animal companions and to keep them indoors. Because animals cannot report incidents of abuse against them and can do little to fight back, they are the perfect “practice” victims for those who tend towards violence.

History shows that past incidents involving cruelty to animals regularly appear in the records of serial rapists and murderers. Young killers Mary Bell, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables as well as serial murderers Ian Huntley, Thomas Hamilton (Dunblane massacre), Fred West, Dennis Nilsen, Ian Brady and Raoul Moat all started out by deliberately harming animals.

“It is imperative that any community faced with such horrific animal abuse take measures to find the culprit or culprits and stop the violence”, says PETA spokesperson Yvonne Taylor. “Animal abusers are a danger to everyone – they take their issues out on whoever is available to them, human or non-human.”
