PETA Teams Up With Shakey Shakey Fish Bar to Celebrate Vegan Menu

Ramsgate, Kent­- Today, accompanied by a giant “fish” holding a sign proclaiming, “Try Vegan Fish,” PETA supporters gave away free vegan fish and chips from Ramsgate’s Shakey Shakey Fish Bar, which offers a special vegan menu every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday complete with vegan fish and chips, fishcakes, fish burgers, onion rings, and battered garlic mushrooms.

“From the most upmarket  restaurants to the local chippy, finding delicious vegan foods has never been easier,” says PETA Director of Corporate Projects Dawn Carr. “Vegan fish fillets are packed with protein and flavour but none of the cruelty and cholesterol associated with fish flesh, and PETA encourages everyone to give them a try.”

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – notes that in addition to sparing fish immense pain and distress, vegans are less prone to suffering from cancer, obesity, and diabetes than meat-eaters are, and they have a lower carbon footprint.
