London – Today, last-minute Christmas shoppers visiting London’s bustling Regent Street and Oxford Street were met with a heavenly sight outside H&M: a PETA “angel” bedecked with huge faux-feather wings, knee-high boots, and a halo urged passers-by never to buy products made with feathers.

“Every down-filled item, from jackets to cushions, is stuffed with feathers that were torn from terrified birds who died in agony,” says PETA Senior Campaigns Manager Kate Werner. “PETA is calling on H&M to end this cruelty by banning down and urges everyone to be an angel for birds by sticking to warm and cosy vegan materials this Christmas and beyond.”

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear” – opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
