WESSEX WATER TECHNICIANS RECEIVE AWARD FOR RESCUING DUCKLINGS TRAPPED IN STORM DRAIN

Brave Act Saves Life and Earns Hero to Animals Award

Burton Bradstock, West Dorset– After hearing the quacking of two small ducklings who had fallen down a storm drain, two Wessex Water technicians jumped into action and coaxed the animals to safety using an iPad recoding of their mother’s quack. The pair’s quick-thinking and cleverness has caught the attention of international animal-protection charity PETA and earned Brendan Sutcliffe and Keith Carter Hero to Animals awards.

“Thanks to Brendan and Keith’s heroic efforts, what could have ended in tragedy for the ducklings had a happy ending”, says PETA Director Mimi Bekhechi. “We hope their compassionate action will serve as inspiration to others to help animals in need.”

For their action, each has received a framed certificate and a box of vegan chocolates. A photo of Sutcliffe with his award is available here.
