Finalist Voting Begins in Order to Help PETA Choose Who It Should Name as the Best Cruelty-Free Baker
London – Voting has opened in PETA’s annual baking contest to help it decide who it should choose as the best vegan baker in the UK. After much consideration (and drooling over the appetising baked goods), PETA has selected 10 finalists, and now the public will help PETA decide who it should crown as The Great Vegan Bake-Off champion for 2015. The finalists and their creations can be found here.
“From delightful breads and cakes to lovely muffins and tarts, we received dozens of entries, all made without eggs, dairy products or any other ingredients derived from animals”, says PETA UK Director Mimi Bekhechi. “Narrowing down the finalists was tough work, but this contest is proof that vegan baking is a piece of (egg- and dairy-free) cake!”
Here are the finalists, along with their entries:

- Charis’ Vegan Salted Caramel Popcorn Macaroons
- Julie’s Vegan Chocolate Cake with Avocado Frosting
- Veronica and Amy’s Chocolate Beetroot Cake
- Lucy’s Vegan Baked Alaska
- Hannah’s Chocolate Chip–Coconut Cookie Jars
- Ellie’s Sugar-Free Vegan Schichttorte
- Laura’s Bramble Polenta Cake
- Biff’s Vegan Doughnuts
- Karen’s Peach and Raspberry Crumble with Vanilla “Custard”
Voting on the finalists to help PETA determine who it should choose as the winner will run from today to 18 September. PETA will give equal consideration to two factors when choosing a winner: the total number of votes that the entry receives and our assessment of how tasty it looks. The winner will be announced on PETA’s website on 21 September. See the full contest details here.
