All About Animals: Primary Teachers: Lesson Plan 4: Elephant in a Zoo

How does this fit into the guidelines? To develop their writing on paper and on screen, pupils should be taught to plan by noting and developing initial ideas (2a) and to draft by developing ideas from the plan into structured written text (2b). The range of purpose for writing should include imagining and exploring feelings and ideas, focusing on creative uses of language and strategies to interest the reader (9a).

Teachers’ Note: Ask your pupils to draft and then write a piece on either paper or computer with the title Elephant in a Zoo. They are to pay particular attention to writing creatively, choosing language carefully to explore feelings, emotions and ideas. They must keep in mind that the language and structure of the essay should retain the interest and attention of the reader.
