Stella McCartney’s Paris Show Delivers a Powerful Message for Animals

For decades, Stella McCartney has been one of the fashion industry’s strongest voices for animals. At her Paris Fashion Week show last night, she once again used one of fashion’s biggest stages to challenge cruelty to animals and push the industry towards a kinder future.

Through innovative animal-free materials and a collection inspired by the beauty of marine life, Stella demonstrated that fashion can celebrate animals rather than profit from them.

Shining a Spotlight on Marine Animals

The new ocean-inspired collection highlighted the beauty of marine life. From shimmering, fish-scale-like textures to wave-inspired silhouettes and marine animal motifs, the designs encouraged guests to marvel at the beauty of ocean animals rather than view them as food.

Alongside raising awareness of threats such as pollution, overfishing, and the climate crisis, the collection echoed Stella McCartney’s call for humans to see marine animals as individuals worthy of respect and protection rather than items on a menu.

Speaking after the show, she reflected on the contradiction of people admiring ocean animals while eating them:

“I’ve never eaten fish, really, but my mum and dad used to point out that one minute people are watching a sea life documentary with David Attenborough and exclaiming about this magical world and the next, they are looking at a seafood menu. It is grotesque.”

That idea was distilled into the collection’s simple but powerful mantra: “Sea life, not sea food.”

25Years of Advocacy for Animals

Stella has never separated fashion from her values. For more than three decades, she has challenged the industry’s use of animals’ body parts and demonstrated that luxury fashion does not require sentient beings to be exploited or killed.

That commitment has been reflected collection after collection. Recent innovations include FEVVERS, a plant-based faux feather featured in the Summer 2026 collection, and Hydefy, a fungi-based vegan leather introduced in Summer 2025.

Her latest Paris runway continues that legacy. Free from leather, feathers, fur, and wool, the collection arrived during a fashion month marked by PETA entities’ protests demanding animal-free fashion.

After the show, Stella questioned why campaigners still need to push the industry to move away from practices that harm animals.

“The animal rights people shouldn’t even have to do that in the first place,” she said. “The industry needs to be accountable, get modern, and, actually, look at how much murder they’re doing, how much damage you’re doing to the planet.”

Her message was clear: the future of fashion lies in innovation, not animal exploitation.
