Colchester – Colchester native Sophie Barrett is one of the two female finalists in PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian in Europe contest. For weeks, PETA has been searching for the continent’s cutest and most compassionate people, and Sophie has beaten out hundreds of entrants from across Europe to compete for the honour in the final round.

Fourteen years ago, Sophie – who loves cooking, clubbing and cats – swore off meat for good. “The reason I have stayed a vegetarian is because I have learned about the cruel and unimaginable ways animals raised for meat are treated”, she explains. Now, when the part-time model isn’t posing for the camera, she’s whipping up delicious vegetarian dishes for her family and friends.

“The heat is on for our foxy finalists – this round will decide who takes home the title of hottest European vegetarian”, says PETA Special Projects Coordinator Abi Izzard. “But one look at our radiant line-up of compassionate, sexy vegetarian finalists and it’s clear that they’re all winners.”

PETA will determine the two winners – one male and one female – based on the finalists’ popularity with voters, their commitment to the animal rights cause and, of course, how hot they are! The winners will each receive a bundle of prizes from some of the UK’s top ethical companies – such as The Throw Company, Vintage Roots, The Redwood Wholefood Company, Bulldog and Bourgeois Bohème – after they are announced on 26 September.
