Bathing Beauty Shows How Much Water to Produce One Steak

Nearly nude PETA model – and vegetarian – Megan Currie sudsed up in a tub for World Water Week while policymakers met in Sweden to discuss global water issues. The bathing beauty informed passers-by that it takes the equivalent of 50 baths filled with water to produce just one steak. Megan aimed to show people that the best way to fight the worldwide water crisis and clean their conscience is to go veg.

“Not only does the meat industry inflict cruelty, it also wastes huge amounts of water and damages the planet”, says vegetarian vixen Megan from the Erin Gavin Agency. “You can’t eat meat and be an environmentalist.”

It takes about 15,500 litres of water to produce 1 kilogram of beef, compared with just 1,000 litres to produce 1 kilogram of wheat. A recent UN report found that the meat industry is “one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global”. Among these environmental problems is freshwater scarcity, and the report calls the livestock sector “a key player in increasing water use” and “probably the largest sectoral source of water pollution”.

On top of that, billions of animals raised for food each year endure routine abuse on crowded, filthy factory farms, where they are subjected to painful mutilations and face terrifying deaths.

You can help! Ditch meat and save up to 100 animals per year! Take the Pledge to Go Veg today.
