Emmerdale’s ‘Leyla Harding’ is A Natural Beauty in Lettuce Gown

She’s best known to Emmerdale fans as feisty Leyla Harding, the fun-loving girl who has achieved her dream of buying the “old farm shop”. But the issue that really gets actor Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi fired up in real life is promoting a vegan lifestyle!

Manchester-born Rokhsaneh took time out of her hectic filming schedule to join PETA in celebrating the start of Vegetarian Awareness Month. Wearing a stunning gown made entirely of real lettuce leaves, Rokhsaneh urged shoppers in Leeds to “Let Vegetarianism Grow on You!” while PETA activists dished out delicious Redwood vegan sausages to shoppers.

Rokhsaneh shunned meat and dairy products six years ago because of concerns about cruelty to animals and the health implications of eating animal-derived products—and she hasn’t looked back! As well as having a clear conscience, Rokhsaneh says that she also now has clear skin! “I went vegan six years ago – out of concern for my health and also a hatred of animal cruelty – and I haven’t looked back!” says Ghawam-Shahidi. “I saw an immediate improvement in my skin, my waistline is trimmer, and I can enjoy delicious vegan food knowing that I’m in no way contributing to the suffering and death of animals.”

Join Rokhsaneh and countless other compassionate people worldwide by pledging to go vegan.
