Being vegan is the best way to succeed, and two legendary athletes have just proved it. Vegan athlete – and PETA Person of the Year 2018 – Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix for a record-breaking sixth time just hours before Novak Djokovic, who has been eating a plant-based diet for a few years now, won his fifth Wimbledon title.

Lewis often speaks about his vegan diet to the international media and regularly shares animal rights messages with his 12 million Instagram followers:

We all have a voice, I have this platform and so to not use it correctly would be wrong of me. Nobody is perfect, I certainly am not but this is actually happening everyday to so many animals worldwide. This is why I have decided to go to a vegan plant based diet, been over a year now. Yes it’s hard, nothings ever easy but I’ve felt the best I’ve ever felt for the past year. #chooselove #govegan

Novak says his performance on the court has improved since switching to a plant-based diet:

“I do eat plant-based. I think that’s one of the reasons why I recover well. I don’t have allergies that I used to have any more.”

Vegan Athletes

Both Lewis and Novak are among the executive producers behind The Game Changers – a new documentary about vegan athletes:

The documentary, to be screened worldwide on 16 September, is directed by Oscar winner Louie Psihoyos and executive produced by Oscar winner James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jackie Chan. The film focuses on a UFC fighter who learned that everything he’d been taught about protein was a lie.

Why Vegan?

There are heaps of good reasons to go vegan – that’s why a growing number of athletes are making the transition.

The meat, fishing, egg, and dairy industries are a nightmare for animals, who are treated like a collection of body parts rather than sentient individuals. Their misery will continue unless we take action.

Eating meat can also harm humans. Consuming flesh takes a terrible toll on human health, taxing your digestive system and increasing your risk of life-threatening disease. By choosing to go vegan, you’ll improve your quality of life drastically, stay fitter and healthier, and feel great.
