New Vegan Foods for January 2017
As thousands of people across the UK try vegan for January, companies are rushing into the rapidly growing market and releasing new meat- and dairy-free food options. From sandwiches in supermarkets to handy frozen items, we’re pretty excited about what’s on offer.
Vegetarian favourite Quorn has another new vegan option on the shelves. These “fishless fingers” would be perfect with mushy peas and chips
The idea of using one thing for many purposes is rather modern and good for the planet too, especially when that thing is our fraiche without the creme (because we made it from oats). You can use it to make your fancy New Year’s Eve dinner delicious and then use it to make an awesome dip for your chips on New Year’s Day. And then you will have to buy a new one, which is the real purpose of this post, to generate a spike in sales of our oat fraiche during the holidays.
This is the perfect alternative to sour cream – just add lemon juice and salt. You can also use it to replace crème fraîche in your cooking or as a cooling sauce or dip.
Pret has released a range of exciting vegan items for the new year, including the Rainbow Veggie Pot, Asian Greens Veggie Pot, three new dairy-free soups, and three new breakfast pots. The chain will also offer the option of coconut milk in any hot drink.
M&S has finally caught up with other stores and released a selection of vegan options. You can now grab a Super Greens or Rainbow Veg sandwich, a Glorious Greens & Seeds Veggie Pot, or an Edamame & Black Rice Nourish Bowl – yum!
Cauldron Vegan Burgers and Vegan Sausages
There are two new vegan offerings from Cauldron, now available in Waitrose.
