BOURNEMOUTH EATERY GETS PETA KUDOS FOR DELIVERING VEGAN FRIED CHICKEN

During Coronavirus Lockdown, Group Rallies Support for Businesses by Honouring UK’s Best Vegan Fare

Bournemouth – To encourage people to eat vegan while supporting local eateries during the COVID-19 lockdown, PETA – which notes that the virus originated in a meat market – has compiled a list of the top 10 places that deliver vegan fried chicken in the UK.

On the list is Chicken & Blues, which has locations in Bournemouth and Poole. Its crispy fried offerings include the plant-based chicken wrap with THIS Isn’t Chicken nuggets in a spinach tortilla, served with vegan slaw, lettuce, and a choice of sauce , and they’re available via Deliveroo or to collect with orderswift.

“By treating yourself to Chicken & Blues’ vegan fried chicken, you’re supporting a local business while being kind to animals,” says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “Since live-animal markets and filthy factory farms are linked to the spread of COVID-19, SARS, swine flu, avian flu, mad cow disease, and more, we can help reduce the risk of future pandemics by opting for delicious vegan offerings over meat.”

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – notes that chickens are smart, social, and sensitive animals who love their families and value their own lives. Those raised for their flesh on factory farms are routinely fed antibiotics and bred to grow so large that their legs often collapse under their own body weight. At the abattoir, they’re shackled upside down, their throats are slit, and they’re scalded in defeathering tanks – sometimes while still conscious.

Rounding out PETA’s list are DoppleGanger in Cambridge, Down the Hatch in Liverpool, Huns Vegan in Leicester, Sunshine Deli in Sheffield, Biff’s Jack Shack in London, Greazy Vegan in Cardiff, Neat Burger in London, and Twisted London and Absurd Vird, which are available in locations around the UK.
