Aarhus, Denmark – What do buff Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis and stunning British singing sensation Leona Lewis have in common? They are the reigning king and queen of PETA US’ annual Sexiest Vegetarian Alive contest. PETA Europe has expanded its own contest to include people who aren’t world-famous yet – although they could be if they were to win – and 32-year-old Aarus resident Peter Steffensen has beaten hundreds of entrants from across Europe to become one of the eight male finalists.

Peter, a firefighter and hypnotherapist, has been a vegan for four years and is never one to shy away from a PETA protest. In the past, he has participated in “Running of the Nudes” events and Unbearable Cruelty protests. He also volunteers at an animal shelter and has worked as a campaign coordinator for Danish animal rights group Anima. Peter also makes a mean homemade veggie burger, and in his spare time, he likes to travel, meditate and indulge his love of photography.

“On average, vegetarians are slimmer and healthier than meat-eaters are – and that makes them sexier too”, says PETA Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc. “One look at our radiant line-up of sexy vegetarian finalists and it’s clear that they’re all winners.”

To see Peter’s photo and bio, along with pictures of the seven other hot vegetarian hunks selected as finalists, please click here and select the “Male Contestants” tab. Following four rounds of head-to-head matchups, the winners – who will each spend a weekend in the beautiful Lake District courtesy of the Lancrigg Vegetarian Country House Hotel – will be announced on 2 April.
