During World Vegan Month this November, we’ve put up this billboard in Wolverhampton to show that going vegan is far easier than people might think.

Making the switch to plant-based meals can be as simple as exchanging a glass of cows’ milk for one of soya milk, and as the market for vegan foods in the UK keeps growing, the variety of products available is getting even more impressive.

Many people are unaware of the suffering cows are subjected to just so we can drink their milk. On dairy farms, babies are torn away from their mothers shortly after birth so the milk intended for them can be consumed by us, and this cruel cycle is repeated until the mothers’ bodies give out. Once they are no longer profitable, long-suffering cows are shipped off to the abattoir and killed for cheap meat.

Switching to a non-dairy milk is good for animals and could also improve your own health. Plant-based milks contain none of the artery-clogging fat and cholesterol of cows’ milk, and those who drop dairy foods from their meals have a reduced risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Whether you want to try vegan eating to help animals, to improve your well-being, or to protect the environment, there’s nothing extreme about dropping meat and dairy foods in favour of kinder and healthier alternatives.
