PETA Celebrates Valentino’s Farewell to Fur

After more than a decade of campaigning – including protests and runway disruptions – by PETA and our international affiliates, Valentino has announced that it will ban fur!

Cheers went up at PETA HQ today at the news that even the fashion house that sewed mink fur onto sneakers is changing with the times. At this rate, not a single designer will still be selling fur next year – and no wonder, since no kind shopper will buy it.

Why Has Valentino Said Farewell to Fur?

As PETA exposés show, many animals killed for their fur spend their entire lives in cramped cages, where they frantically pace back and forth, gnaw on the cage bars, and even resort to self-mutilation.

They’re often killed by gassing, electrocution, drowning, or poisoning, and some are even skinned alive.

Hundreds of other top designers and retailers – including Armani, Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Maison Margiela, and Versace – have already dropped fur.

What You Can Do

Like Valentino, Italians know that fur belongs in the history books, not in our wardrobes. Over 90% of the country’s population is against fur farming, and in the past 30 years, the number of fur farms in Italy has decreased from 125 to six.

Use your voice to help shut down the remaining farms:
