Who’s on Your Plate?

To mark the World Week for the Abolition of Meat, a PETA supporter in Glasgow stripped down with the aim of encouraging passersby to have compassion for the billions of animals who are abused and killed by the meat, egg, dairy and fishing industries every year.

Posing on a giant plate – complete with to-scale cutlery, chips, peas and a serving of ketchup, her banner read, “Try to Relate to Who’s on Your Plate. Go Vegan”.

Besides causing animals to suffer on a massive scale, consumption of meat and other animal products has been conclusively linked to heart disease, strokes, obesity, cancer and diabetes – the last of which alone afflicts nearly a quarter-million people in Scotland alone. Also, raising animals for food is a leading cause of water pollution, land degradation and the greenhouse-gas emissions responsible for climate change.

Purging your diet of meat, eggs and dairy products will help safeguard your health, reduce your carbon footprint and save the lives of more than 100 animals every year. And with so many delicious meat-free options available, there’s never been a better time to go vegan.
