Charmouth, Dorset – For demonstrating what can be achieved when people do whatever it takes to help an animal in distress, the West Bay Coastguard Rescue has received PETA’s Hero to Animals Award.

In March, the coastguard rescue was called after a 3-year-old dog named Lola fell 6 metres down a 190-metre cliff at Golden Cap, just east of Charmouth, and landed on a ledge. The rescue team was able to reach Lola and get her to safety.

“The skills and determination that the West Bay Coastguard Rescue team demonstrated in saving this dog’s life should inspire others throughout the community and beyond”, says PETA Manager Mimi Bekhechi. “Dorset is very fortunate to have rescuers who are ready to protect and serve both residents and their beloved animal companions.”

The West Bay Coastguard Rescue team have received a framed certificate and a letter of appreciation from PETA.
