Progress! Avon Products, Inc, Takes Steps Towards Becoming Cruelty-Free

Update: Things keep getting better! After working closely with PETA US for nearly two years to end tests on animals and demonstrating significant contributions to global efforts to stop tests on animals, Avon Products, Inc, has officially been added to the PETA US “Working for Regulatory Change” list.

Avon Products, Inc, is no longer testing on animals anywhere in the world and is putting systems in place to ensure that none of its suppliers tests on animals, either.

When that process is complete, the company will be moved to the cruelty-free list.

Huge progress! Avon Products, Inc, has stopped all regulator-required tests on animals everywhere in the world, including in China. This is the first crucial step to becoming cruelty-free. Now the company is working with its suppliers to make sure that no ingredients are tested on animals.

“Avon will focus on working with suppliers on their animal testing policies for ingredients used in Avon’s products. Meanwhile Avon will continue to work with its partners to push for regulatory change and greater acceptance of alternatives to animal testing,” the company said.

We appreciate the company’s thoughtful approach to ensuring that any of its products sold in China will never be tested on animals. PETA US has been working with the company throughout this process and is keen to continue this work to prevent sensitive rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, and other animals from enduring excruciating tests.

Note: Avon Products, Inc, is a separate company from New Avon. Avon Products, Inc, sold its North America business in 2016 to a separate company (New Avon) and now sells products under the Avon brand everywhere in the world except in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
