We decided to have a bit of fun this Pancake Day by teaming up with Doctor Dan the Pancake Man and creating portraits of some of our favourite vegans made out of – yep, you guessed it – vegan pancake batter!

Want to give it a go? Here’s the recipe:

Vegan Pancakes

  • 200 g flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 ml almond milk
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil

Mix and stir until smooth. Then get creative with a pan over medium heat!

Makes 6 pancakes

These delicious pancakes require no animal fats, dairy products or any other animal-derived products, so you can scoff them with a clear conscience, knowing that you won’t be supporting cruel industries that exploit, maim and kill billions of animals each year.

But why stop with pancakes? Giving up meat and dairy products for Lent is a Christian tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. It’s traditionally a period of sacrifice, but for the modern-day vegan, there are so many delicious alternatives to meat and dairy foods that it needn’t feel like a sacrifice at all. Make a positive change that will help animals by going vegan for Lent!
