Where Does Wool Really Come From? Watch Shocking New Footage From UK Sheep Farms

Posted by on November 15, 2018 | Permalink

New footage of workers in the UK punching frightened sheep in the face, slamming their heads into the floor, violently beating and kicking them, and throwing them off shearing trailers has been released by PETA Asia.

The videos show even more horrifying, out-of-sight abuse of sheep and lambs shorn for their wool on farms in England and Scotland.

In addition, PETA Asia has submitted over seven hours of footage from the 49 farms visited to Trading Standards and the Scottish SPCA and filed detailed complaints of workers punching, beating, kicking, and stamping on sheep, which are currently being investigated. The group is urging the government to require that CCTV cameras be installed in sheep sheds in England and Scotland.

This new footage makes it clear that the cruelty captured on video is far from an anomaly, as the industry would like everyone to believe, and shows how shearing operations treat animals – something every shopper has a right to know.

PETA has released nine exposés of 96 sheep shearing sheds on four continents.

All of them have revealed that sheep are systematically beaten, kicked, punched, and mutilated in the wool industry.

What You Can Do

When animals are viewed as commodities and their fear and pain are ignored, we must raise our voices and use our consumer clout to stop the abuse.

Never buy wool. Before you purchase clothing and other items, check the labels, and if they mention “wool”, look for an animal-free alternative.

If you know someone who still wears wool, please speak up for sheep by explaining how they’re exploited in the wool industry and suggesting cruelty-free fabrics. Please also share this shocking footage to help more people learn the truth about the way wool is produced.
